Central Florida - Renovation of AdventHealth Heart of Florida
Emergency Department Complete

Expanding High-Quality, Whole Person Health Care in Fast-Growing Polk County.  AdventHealth Heart of Florida recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation to elevate the level of emergency care the hospital offers to the community.

Ten new rooms have been added to the emergency room providing more comfort and privacy for patients and their families. The addition brings the total ER beds to 37.  The expansion also includes renovations to the outpatient and emergency registration
areas to streamline the process, enabling patients to be seen and treated quickly.

This hospital renovation is a key part of AdventHealth's growth strategy to increase access to high-quality health care options in Polk County and the surrounding communities. A study from the United Community Needs found that Polk County is the fastest-growing county in Florida as of the 2020 census.

“To keep pace with our rapidly growing community we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our emergency room and lobby area with intentionally designed spaces that incorporate nature into the design to foster a more restful and peaceful environment
for health and healing,’’ said Tim Clark, President and CEO for the AdventHealth Polk market. “The renovations to the ER and the registration areas are just another example of fulfilling our promise to deliver high-quality, world class care to our patients.  By expanding our ER, we are helping to ensure that patients get seen and treated quickly.  We have also streamlined both our emergency and outpatient registration processes.”

The project also includes updating the façade of the hospital and adding a new, larger  chapel next to the main entrance. A tranquility garden will be accessible to visitors, patients and team members from the chapel to provide a place of reflection, peace and serenity while they are at the hospital.

The Inner Wheel Club of Haines City was formed on March 10, 1977 with current members, Joy Sims and Kay Rocker, as founding members. International Inner Wheel has grown to more than 120,000 members in nearly 4,000 clubs across over 100 countries during its nearly 100 years.
The Objectives of Inner Wheel are: To Promote True Friendship, To Promote the Ideals of Personal Service, To Foster International Understanding.  Any woman who shares these three central objectives and commitment to making a difference in their communities is welcome to join the organization. In addition to the local programs, we also contribute to the Inner Wheel USA Foundation. Over the years the Inner Wheel USA Foundation has built a substantial endowment for the Children’s Myoelectric Limb Project. Working exclusively with the Hanger Clinic, the Foundation provides upper body myoelectric limbs to children under the age of 18 years who have experienced limb loss through trauma, disease or genetics. The limbs provided may be new technology, such as the Hero Arm, or traditional limbs
depending on the needs and growth of the child. Through this work with over 800 Hanger Clinics the Myoelectric Limb Project is “Turning Possibilities into Realities.”

The Inner Wheel USA Foundation is also a Gold Sponsor of Camp No Limits. Camp No Limits has become an integral part of our relationship with Hanger. The Camp No Limits Foundation is a non-profit organization providing camps for children with limb loss and differences. Founded in 2004 by Mary Leighton, Camp No Limits aims to provide education, mentorship, and support to these children and their families fostering a welcoming and supportive community in the hopes of helping all those who attend the camp. The camp stresses the importance of physical and occupational therapy, adaptations,
prosthetic options and peer support to assist the children and families.

Throughout the year we do a variety of fundraising activities to support these causes. One of our signature fundraisers is our Annual Bean Soup and Cornbread Luncheon which will be marking its 37th
year this year! Always held on the first Thursday in March, this year our luncheon will be held Thursday, March 2 nd , 2023 from 11am-1pm (while supplies last) at the Haines City Community Center located at
555 Ledwith Ave, Haines City. Lunch is $8.00 and includes soup, cornbread, dessert and a drink. Free delivery is available locally for orders of FIVE or MORE with an RSVP by February 28 th via email to innerwheel.hainescity@gmail.com or by contacting Donna Markuson at 863-207-0501. Additional fundraisers include catering two Rotary Luncheons a year for the Haines City Rotary with homemade
potluck style meals, and collecting boxed Valentine’s cards and toiletries for the Hearth Project.

JANUARY 2023 SPOTLIGHT - HAINES CITY COMMUNITY THEATRE

Haines City, FL - Haines City Community Theatre (HCCT) is a group created to entertain, enrich, and educate the community by providing an intimate live theatre experience at a reasonable price to the residents of the city and surrounding areas while also offering actors, directors, technicians, and other support staff the opportunity to develop and expand their talents.
 
HCCT began in 1981 when it staged plays at Haines City High School. In 2014 we moved to our current location on the corner of 3rd Street and Ledwith Avenue, at beautiful Lake Eva, where we continue to bring quality family entertainment to Haines City and the surrounding communities. We are a non-profit 501(3)c and rely on our patrons, volunteers, and donors solely. Without the kindness of others and the support of the arts, we could not do what we do for the community. And don’t miss our next production, Grey Gardens The Musical, opening on January 20, 2023, and running Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm through February 12, 2023. Grey Gardens is a musical with book by Doug Wright, music by Scott Frankel, and lyrics by Michael Korie, produced in 2006 and based on the 1975 documentary of
the same title by Albert and David Maysles. It is about the lives of Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale, “Big Edie”, played by Davenport resident Staci Morin, and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale, “Little Edie”, played by Megan Michals. The Beales were Jacqueline Kennedy’s aunt and cousin, respectively. Set at Grey Gardens, the Bouviers’; mansion in East Hampton, New York, the musical tracks the progression of the two women’s lives from their original status as rich and socially polished aristocrats to their eventual largely isolated existence in a home overrun by cats and cited for repeated health code violations. However, its more central purpose is to untangle the complicated dynamics of their dysfunctional mother/daughter relationship. Other cast members include Mitchel England as Joseph Patrick Kennedy Jr., Madilyn Brown as Young Little Edie, Michelle Dissler in the role of Jackie Bouvier, and Ellie Ortiz as Lee Bouvier. Paul Morin will play the role of George Gould Strong, Regan Krause – J.V. “Major” Bouvier, and Chris Walsh – Brooks. HCCT Board Member and Technical Director Erik Allen Normandin has directed the show. Tickets are $18.00 for Adults and $15.00 for children and are available at HCCT.booktix.com.
